REVIEW – I love spin bikes because they are low impact but I still get a good workout so when YOSUDA asked me to review their YB007R Magnetic Exercise Bike I had to say yes. Let’s check it out.

The YOSUDA YB007R is a magnetic exercise bike that sports a super quiet belt drive. Coupled with a 40lb chrome flywheel and a monitor that displays time elapsed, speed, distance, calories, and RPM it has everything you need to get your sweat on.

Design and features
The YOSUDA YB007R magnetic exercise bike is a no frills bike that gets the job done. It has a belt drive and magnetic resistance system so it is super quiet. You can use this right next to a sleeping cat and not wake it up, that’s how quiet it is. The 40lb chrome flywheel spins up nicely and is super smooth.
The monitor displays the time elapsed, speed, distance, calories, and RPM. It weighs 75lbs total but is easy to move around with the front wheels and it doesn’t take up much floor space. The monitor seemed to be a little dark depending on the light. It uses 2x AAA batteries so I assume that is to prolong battery life but it did make it a little tough to see at times. The monitor does save the last workout stats until you hold the reset button to clear it.
The seat is very comfortable with 4-way adjustability. The handlebar though is only adjustable up and down. The YOSUDA YB007R has no way to tell you what your resistance is at but for a bike at this price I didn’t expect it to. I experimented a little by turning the resistance all the way down and then all the way up to get a good feel for the range.
Assembly, installation, and setup
I have a Peloton bike and use it religiously. Unfortunately, I found out you cannot use one account on two bikes so I was looking for an exercise bike to keep at my girlfriend’s house that I could use whenever I was there. The YOSUDA YB007R fit the bill perfectly so I decided to give it a try.
Assembly was actually pretty easy. I opened the box and then laid it down and pulled everything out. It required only 8 bolts to put together and came with all the tools necessary. See below for an assembly video of a similar bike.
I bolted the front and rear stabilizers on. The pedals went on next and are threaded the same as a normal bike. Then the seat post, seat, and handlebar went on. I put the included AAA batteries in and plugged the monitor in. Screwed in the bottle cage and that was it.
Performance
My first ride on the YOSUDA YB007R was a 20 minute ride that I followed using the Peloton app on my phone. The YOSUDA YB007R worked great overall and I felt like I got a really good workout. I’ve used a Peloton for so long I can gauge the resistance on other bikes and get pretty close to where I am supposed to be during the ride. My phone did fit just fine but a 10” tablet was tall enough to have to lean it on the monitor. It didn’t block the readings but a larger tablet might.
The speed sensor was a little off and therefore the distance was lower than what my Peloton stated. On bike rides in the real world, I tend to stick to a high cadence of 90-100 revolutions per minute and that usually puts me in the 18-20 mph range. After the 20 min ride the YOSUDA stated I rode 4.53 miles and I noticed my speed was around 13-15 most of the time when normally it would be higher. When I did the same 20 minute ride on my Peloton I traveled 7.37 miles with a 22.1mph average speed. I decided to do a longer 30 minute ride and on the Peloton I went 11.41 miles and averaged 22.8mph. Doing the same exact ride on the YOSUDA YB007R with the Peloton app it showed 6.85 miles traveled. I also noticed it never got over 20mph even though I was spinning pretty fast at times.
The caged pedals worked fine but the cages seemed a little small so that my size 11.5 shoes couldn’t fit in all the way and I had to offset a little to avoid rubbing the crank arms. I decided to unscrew the pedal axles to bring them away from the crank arms. The pedals have inside locking nuts so they won’t unscrew and this gives my feet a little more room.
I also noticed when I stand the handlebar is a bit too close for me. Unfortunately, it is only adjustable up and down. I am 6 feet tall so when I stood up to pedal I noticed some sweat would drip down onto my phone or tablet since my face ended up right above the holder. For $21 more, I think the Pro-M Magnetic Bike is worth it since it comes with a 4-way adjustable handlebar so you can get it in the perfect spot no matter your height. The water bottle holder is also right below the resistance dial within easy reach but on the YB007R it is a bit of a reach on the lower right fork.
I do think the range of resistance is a bit less than my Peloton though. I increased the resistance and when it got to what I felt was maybe a 70% or 75% resistance on my Peloton a little more turn and the flywheel locks up completely. Overall though I got a good workout in and the YOSUDA YB007R felt solid even under heavy high resistance cranking.
What I like about The YOSUDA YB007R Magnetic Exercise Bike
- Reasonably priced
- Smooth magnetic resistance
- Solid and simple exercise bike
What needs to be improved?
- Better monitor accuracy
- Better monitor visibility
Final thoughts
At $259.00 on sale right now the YOSUDA YB007R is a great price for a magnetic resistance bike. If I were to buy one I think I would opt to pay a little extra for the Pro-M model and get the 4-way adjustable handlebar and hopefully a more accurate monitor. So far though the YOSUDA YB007R has held up nicely so I expect it to last a while.
